Day Two in Munich
Today dawned cloudy and misty but thankfully the heavy rain – and thunder:) -- held off until we got back from our day-long trek around the city.Munich is a great city for walking (and bicycling -- there are bike lanes, and bicycles, everywhere). We took in the city center and saw the rather dorky glockenspiel show high up on the City Hall (Neues Rathaus, or Rat House for short), then walked through the beautiful English Garden parkand then back downtown for dinner at the Hof brauhaus, famous for raucous consumption of beer on the main floor and for the birth of the Nazi party at Hitler's first large meeting in the large room on the third floor. We're both stiff and sore, but Lois' foot is holding up well.
(Lois' addendum: Isn't it curious that the city hall is called a Rathaus?)
